Smokin J’s Barbeque is Doug Johnson and his wife, JoAnn. Former Paulding County residents, Doug’s unparalleled passion for barbecue encouraged him to join the Georgia Barbecue Association in 2013 and begin competing. In their inaugural season, they “racked” up in the Rib category, achieving one third place and one fourth place finish! At the end of the first season, they finished 19th in the Team of the Year running, out of over 100 registered teams. In their second season, they purchased another smoker and finshed 18th for the Team of Year race. Cooking exclusively on Big Green Eggs, they look to improve their status and become one of the most competitive teams in the GBA.
